Under the name AR.GOT, the ceramics workshop of Consuelo Angulo and Atanasio Conde, we are recreating, using craftmanship techniques, the sculptures that make up the sixth archivolt of the Pórtico de la Majestad of the Collegiate at Toro (Zamora, Spain).
When the Master Artisans of the Collegiate carved the musicians that still now decorate the Portico de la Majestad, they took real interest and care in reproducing the exact forms and proportions of the instruments they were representing. Instruments, we are sure, that were played every day both indoors and outside the Collegiate in those days. To all those that, to some extent, have devoted ourselves to the recreation of the Medieval Music, it is a moving and almost breathtaking feeling to hold in our hands these fine reproductions that take us to a dream time when men had another notion of time and space, and produced artworks as beautiful as these sculptures. |
